Today Karmanaskis was hit by a major disruption leaving many services and businesses struggling to cope with some completely paralyzed. What seems to have started as a small cooling problem, cascaded to halt all operations at a major data center with knock on problems to the wider national network. At this time, it is not know if this was the result of an accident or deliberate. The KDF has lately noted an increase in cyber activity by some Nations within our region.
Timeline:
06.30 “The Karma Government is aware of an issue effecting the comms operations at the U-I-N”.
06.40 ” We are continuing to monitor an ongoing issue affecting our Data Center. Our System engineers team remains actively engaged and are working together with our data center team to restore temperatures to normal operating levels.During this time, connected services may experience intermittent interruptions while we are still mitigating the issue”.
12.55 “We are currently experiencing a full outage at our KAM-1πΆβπ«οΈ location due to elevated ambient temperatures. All systems and services hosted within this data center are currently offline. We are working closely with the data center engineers to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We will provide further updates as more information becomes available”.
17.45 Update. “KAM-1 data center and others slowly come back online. This major incident was caused by the failure of multiple cooling units within the KAM-1 facility, which eventually caused a shutdown of all equipment in the building, including our network providers and power to our servers. The latest information we have is that ~50% of building cooling is back online, and that within the next 2 – 4 hours we will be able to regain access to our equipment to assess the situation safely. This will allow us to restart our network and bring customer servers back online”.
Karmanaskis Government and KDF Military agencies are involved in ongoing investigations.
